Driving Impact: Professional Standards in Oncology Navigation
New! Upcoming ACS NNRT Webinar Series
Session 1: Tuesday, September 15, 2026 | 12:00-1:15 PM ET
Oncology Patient Navigation is an integral component of high-quality cancer care. In recent years, the need for a consistent framework to guide practice across disciplines and settings has grown increasingly important. In response, the Professional Oncology Navigation Task Force (PONT), a multidisciplinary group of national leaders representing oncology nursing, social work, patient navigation, professional associations, and healthcare organizations, developed the Oncology Navigation Standards of Professional Practice.
These evidence-based standards define the roles, competencies, and responsibilities of oncology navigators and promote consistent, patient-centered care across the cancer continuum. To make the Standards more accessible and actionable, the ACS NNRT Workforce Development Task Group created the Professional Standards in Oncology Navigation Infographic.
This resource translates the Standards into a practical visual tool that supports workforce development, program implementation, professional development, and the delivery of high-quality navigation services
